Gaming Management Training Program (2008 Schedule)

The NIGA Seminar Institute has teamed with faculty at the Conrad Hilton College of the University of Houston to offer a complete professional, academic program in Gaming Management.

Why this program?
NIGA works with an Advisory Council of current General Managers at Indian Gaming facilities to find out exactly the skills they look for when hiring and/or promoting staff. The program is built to teach you these skills. With this training, you will not only have Gaming Management skills, but skills specialized to Indian Gaming Management.

This unique program will offer you and your staff
- Professional credentials from the NIGA Seminar Institute
AND
- Academic credentials from an accredited Hospitality Program at the University level.

Who is this training for?
The classes are designed to give you a comprehensive cross-section of training for all areas of Gaming Management. Each class is at the introductory level so you can learn the essential fundamentals of each area.

The training is perfect for:

  • Current casino personnel with management potential
  • Anyone seeking a professional career in the gaming industry
  • Tribal Leaders
  • Tribal Regulators
  • Tribal Economic Development Staff who need orientation or refresher information on gaming and hospitality operations
  • Anyone interested in learning more about the operations of specific areas of gaming and hospitality operations
  • Anyone seeking professional academic credentials to add to their resume

Certifications
There are two types of Certifications.

Certificates of Completion for each class
Each day-long class offers six hours of comprehensive training time with University faculty and resource materials to take home and utilize. When you successfully complete the exam, you will be recognized by a Certificate of Completion from the NIGA Seminar Institute and the University. Each class will be eligible for one CEU.

Certificate of Competency for completing the entire Program
If you want comprehensive professional qualifications, you can take 6 classes (4 Required Classes and 2 Electives) to earn a Certificate of Competency in Gaming Management. When you successfully complete each class and exam, you will be recognized with a Certificate of Competency from the NIGA Seminar Institute and the University.

Curriculum
Each class has been designed by the General Manager Advisory Committee and the University Faculty. To complete the program and earn the Certificate of Competency, take 6 classes - 4 requireds and 2 electives.

Registration fees include University Faculty instruction, all class resource materials, CEUs (if desired), daily continental breakfast, coffee breaks and lunches.
