Hospitality

"The affiliation of NIGA with George Washington University has provided a great opportunity for hospitality managers to pursue training with a focus on hospitality within a gaming environment. The presenters and topic generated our group into discussion points that can be utilized at any size property. This networking afforded me the ability to assemble with hospitality managers inside Indian Gaming that I have continued to keep in touch with."
Brad Stevens CHA, Hotel & Sales Manager, Shooting Star Casino Hotel & Event Center

Certificate in Hospitality Management
NIGA has partnered with faculty at the George Washington University Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (within the GWU School of Business), to bring you this accredited Professional Certification that includes Continuing Education Units through the University.

Most training will be held at Tribally-owned hotels and resorts, so you can see Tribal Hospitality programs at work around the country!

Who should attend?
The Certificate training is designed for everyone looking to expand their knowledge - and resume - in the growth area of Hospitality and Tourism in Indian Country. This training is for:

  • Hotel Management
  • Casino Management
  • Marketing Management
  • Economic Development Boards
  • Tribal Leadership
  • Everyone interested in Hospitality and Tourism growth

How does it work?
The program consists of six courses, all of which must be attended to earn the Professional Certificate. The material is taught in a blended fashion, with a combination of both face-to-face interaction and use of the internet through on-line coursework. Six hours of face-to-face instruction time will be offered on each course, with the remainder of each course completed via the internet. To complete the on-line portion of the program, all participants will have access to the University's Blackboard system which will enable students to download a workbook.

Upon successful completion of each course, participants will receive a letter of completion from the George Washington University and 1.2 Continuing Education Units. After successfully completing all six courses, the students will receive a Certificate in Hospitality Management from the NIGA Seminar Institute, and a Certificate in Tourism and Destination Management from George Washington University. Students can take the courses out of sequence if needed.
