Senate Confirms Jonodev Chaudhuri to Serve as Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission

The National Indian Gaming Association and its 184 Member Tribes would like to congratulate Jonodev Chaudhuri on his Senate Confirmation as Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Mr. Chaudhuri will serve a three-year term.

On March 29th, the National Indian Gaming Association Board of Directors passed a resolution requesting the full Senate to unanimously support Mr. Chaudhuri's confirmation. Mr. Chaudhuri has demonstrated significant commitment to Indian Country through his service as the Acting Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission and as the Senior Counsel to the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs at the Department of the Interior where he provided guidance and assistance on a wide range of national policy issues.

Since taking over as acting Commissioner, Mr. Chaudhuri demonstrated that he will act impartially and with fairness on Indian Gaming regulatory matters.  These are character traits that Mr. Chaudhuri demonstrated while serving in Indian Country as an Associate Judge for the Puyallup Tribe of Nations; an Appellate Judge for San Manuel Mission Band of Indians, the Gila River Indian Community and the Yavapai-Apache Nation Court of Appeals.

We look forward to continuing our work as full partners in the protection of our industry and preserving the integrity of Indian Gaming.
