Membership

The National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) is a voluntary association composed of Member Tribes and Associate Members representing federally recognized Tribal governments, gaming Tribes, Nations, Rancherias, Pueblos, Bands and Businesses engaged in gaming enterprises in Indian Country.

NIGA's Objectives:
To promote, protect and preserve the general welfare and interest of Indian Gaming Tribes through the development of sound policies and practices with respect to the conduct of gaming activities in Indian Country; To assist in the dissemination of information to the Indian gaming community, federal government and the general public on issues related to the conduct of gaming in Indian Country; To preserve and protect the integrity of gaming in Indian Country; To maintain, protect and advocate Indian Tribal sovereignty.

Become A Member Tribe

TO BECOME A MEMBER:

  1. Complete the Tribal Membership Application
  2. Attach a current year Tribal Resolution for membership
  3. Submit all of the above-referenced documents along with payment to:

*A Tribe desiring to become a member shall submit in writing to NIGA, a Tribal resolution or other authority of the Tribe’s governing body committing itself to the purposes and policies of NIGA’s Articles and By-Laws.

Become An Associate Member

TO BECOME A MEMBER:

  1. Complete the Associate Membership Application
  2. Attach a letter of recommendation and sponsorship by at least one NIGA Member Tribe*
  3. Submit all of the above-referenced documents along with payment to:

  • Members who exhibit at tradeshow have special signage which indicates to tradeshow attendees that they are an Associate Member.
  • Members in good standing have a listing on our website. Tribal leaders are encouraged to look there when soliciting bids and vendor proposals.
  • Associate Member logos for use on member websites, in marketing materials and bid proposals to signal Associate Membership and support of Indian Country.
  • Workshop and panel proposals from Associate Members receive priority consideration.

*According to the By-laws of the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA), any person or business desiring an Associate Membership shall be recommended and sponsored by no less than one Member Tribe involved in gaming. A letter of sponsorship/recommendation should accompany the application for associate membership within one year of applying and attest to the fact that the organization supports gaming by Indian tribes as a means of promoting tribal economic development, self-sufciency, and strong tribal governments; is not a person or entity whose prior activities, criminal record, if any, or reputation, habits or associations pose a threat to the public interest or to the effective regulation of gaming, or create or enhance the dangers of unsuitable, unfair, or illegal practices and methods in activities in the conduct of gaming or the carrying on of the business or financial arrangements incidental thereto; and, commit themselves or itself to the NIGA Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. (Please Note: Application may be submitted while letter of recommendation and sponsorship is in process.)
